Ice Cream Social and Sock Hop

Join us in a fun filled evening and help promote the Arts!

The Chickasha Area Arts Council presents a blast from the past with good old rock ‘n roll music, poodle skirts, slicked back hair and pony tails. We will have contests for best dressed, hula hoops, dance and most creative sundae. We will be playing a few games, having a silent auction and eating good old-fashioned hamburgers, hot dogs, coke and root beer floats and ice cream sundaes.

The local Christian band, For the Name, will be playing 50′s and 60′s music to dance to and local artists will be performing various mediums of art throughout the event.

Rock Island Arts Festival is September 27, 28 & 29th and is a fun, family-oriented and free event. RIAF is made possible only with the support of the Chickasha citizens, surrounding communities, civic organizations and individual volunteers. Tickets are available by calling 222-2544 or contacting CAAC directors, Chickasha Chamber of Commerce and Jay’s Jewelry.

Making Art Together Creates Community

A major goal of the 2012 Rock Island Arts Festival is to create community through art-making.  We have several ways this is happening both before and during the Festival.

SPOOLS:  We will be inviting the public to come and help us paint those large wooden spools to be placed around the Festival grounds.  Details will be announced soon.

JUNK ART:  Every year the Rock Island Arts Festival has a Junk Art Competition when we invite Festival visitors to create beauty out of found objects.  The winners are awarded cash prizes.

GRAFFITI WALLS:  Last year “The Express-Star” donated materials to create several Graffiti Walls around the Festival grounds.  Visitors were encouraged to leave their own creative mark on these public spaces.
